About 30 miles north, Smithville Lake spreads across 7,190 acres with campgrounds, two full-service marinas, swimming, and trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Northeast of the city, Watkins Woolen Mill State Park pairs a historic mill with a quiet lake and campground. Head southeast and the Katy Trail begins at Clinton, the western end of a 240-mile rail-trail across Missouri. Back in town, renters can catch a Royals or Chiefs game, tour the 18th and Vine jazz district, and line up for famous Kansas City barbecue before heading back to camp.

What an RV earns in Kansas City is shaped by RV type, location, condition, season, availability and local demand. Peak lake months near Smithville and big event weekends are the most profitable stretches. The best earners in Kansas City are Class A and Class C motorhomes, while bunkhouse travel trailers and camper vans hold their own. Motorhomes make a comfortable base for game days and the World Series of Barbecue, and trailers stay busy at lake campgrounds on summer weekends. Because the metro straddles the state line, many renters also head west into Kansas.

Your RV will benefit form ongoing attention and basic maintenance like tire checks before and after each rental, roof and slide out checks once a month, ongoing appliance testing, routine oil changes, and more. We want your RV in top shape all the time so that it can continue to perform well and generate revenue. As an RV owner in our program, there are 3 main types of maintenance costs to consider:
1) Routine maintenance: Oil changes, tire rotations, etc. Owners are billed periodically for these expenses at discounted rates, and the deduction can often come directly from the rental profits in a given month.
2) Rental Damages: Any damage to an RV that happens on a rental will be covered fully by the renter's security deposit and/or the commercial insurance coverage. Our managers deal with all claims and repairs at no cost to the RV owner - renters pay the deductible and your personal insurance is not involved.
3) Systemic maintenance: Systemic issues are the responsibility of the RV owner. A/C failure, water pump failure, fridge or hot water tank failure, etc. These are costs that arise from no fault of the renter. Warranty protection plans usually cover these systemic repairs, and our managers work with the warranty company and RV techs to get these fixed. Our managers will work with you to get your RV back in top shape as quickly and professionally as possible.
Around Kansas City, RV rentals book most from about May through October. Weather and game schedules can shift demand. Summer brings Smithville Lake weekends and Ozarks trips, and fall adds Chiefs home games plus the World Series of Barbecue, held by the American Royal around late September and early October. Winter is slowest, though playoff football and holiday travel fill a few dates.
