From Allentown, three very different outings lie within easy driving range. To the north, Lehigh Gorge State Park protects 6,107 acres along the Lehigh River, with more than 20 miles of the D&L Trail running down to the town of Jim Thorpe and a river known for whitewater boating. Northwest of the city, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton overlooks a 2,600 acre preserve where hawks, eagles, and falcons stream past from August through December. To the northeast, the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area follows 40 miles of the longest free-flowing river east of the Mississippi. Closer to home, Dorney Park keeps the kids busy on summer days.
Across the Lehigh Valley, consignment lets an Allentown owner earn from the RV without running a rental business on the side. A Fleet Manager lists the rig, answers guest questions, handles bookings, cleans it after each trip, runs check-ins and returns, coordinates maintenance, and keeps in touch with renters from start to finish. The Lehigh Valley is a strong place to do this. Philadelphia, New York City and North Jersey households are close by, Dorney Park and Musikfest fill summer weekends, the Poconos pull leaf peepers each fall, and Lehigh Gorge State Park and the Delaware Water Gap draw campers all season. Renters book family vacations, weekend escapes, festival trips and fall foliage getaways. Owners come away with real income potential, a professional team behind every rental, routine cleanings and inspections, fewer hours lost to renter messages, and the RV still free for their own trips. That beats paying a storage lot to keep it parked all season.
Yes, an Allentown RV can take rental bookings once its title, registration and insurance are in proper order, and motorhomes and heavier trailers also need Pennsylvania's annual safety inspection. Each rental is protected through an approved rental platform or commercial rental policy. Keep track of taxes on the income, and check township rules, HOA covenants and any storage lot contract before renters start picking up. Our staff at RV Management USA stay with owners from the first question to the first booking, and RV Management 101 lays out the details.
Earnings in Allentown depend on the RV type, location, season, condition, availability and how strong local demand is in a given month. Summer weeks around Dorney Park, Musikfest and the Great Allentown Fair, plus fall trips to the Poconos, can bring in strong returns. As a rough estimate, Lehigh Valley owners in the program earn around $430 to $2,350 per month. Motorhomes, newer units, bunkhouse layouts and RVs based near the routes to the Poconos and the Jersey Shore usually earn the most. Our RV rental income calculator gives a closer figure for your RV.
Class C motorhomes and Class B camper vans earn the most in Allentown. Bunkhouse travel trailers and newer units with updated interiors also do well. Lehigh Valley renters favor rigs they can handle on the turnpike and winding Pocono back roads without much driving experience, and couples like vans for quick runs to the Delaware Water Gap.
Lehigh Valley storage listings show RV spaces starting at about $55 to $80 per month (listed starting prices). The rate in Allentown depends on the RV's length and type and on the lot's amenities, and indoor or covered spaces cost more than an outdoor spot. Both options are available around Allentown, with nearby towns such as Quakertown and Kutztown worth comparing.
Our territory managers work with professional on-site maintenance teams to make sure your RV is meticulously maintained throughout the year. Your RV will benefit form ongoing attention and basic maintenance like tire checks before and after each rental, roof and slide out checks once a month, ongoing appliance testing, routine oil changes, and more. We want your RV in top shape all the time so that it can continue to perform well and generate revenue. As an RV owner in our program, there are 3 main types of maintenance costs to consider:
1) Routine maintenance: Oil changes, tire rotations, etc. Owners are billed periodically for these expenses at discounted rates, and the deduction can often come directly from the rental profits in a given month.
2) Rental Damages: Any damage to an RV that happens on a rental will be covered fully by the renter's security deposit and/or the commercial insurance coverage. Our managers deal with all claims and repairs at no cost to the RV owner - renters pay the deductible and your personal insurance is not involved.
3) Systemic maintenance: Systemic issues are the responsibility of the RV owner. A/C failure, water pump failure, fridge or hot water tank failure, etc. These are costs that arise from no fault of the renter. Warranty protection plans usually cover these systemic repairs, and our managers work with the warranty company and RV techs to get these fixed. Our managers will work with you to get your RV back in top shape as quickly and professionally as possible.
Roughly late May through October is when Allentown RVs stay busiest. Demand can swing with the weather and the local event calendar. Musikfest takes over neighboring Bethlehem in early August, and the Great Allentown Fair follows from late August into Labor Day weekend. Fall foliage in the Poconos and the hawk migration at Hawk Mountain keep September and October busy, while winter is the slowest season.
Renters coming down from New York City and North Jersey and up from Philadelphia, especially for Pocono weekends, are why Allentown RVs book well. To serve them, RV Management USA brings in a Fleet Manager who prices every trip, vets each renter, writes the listing and looks after cleaning and repairs, whether you live in a Lehigh River town or the Pocono foothills. Nearby owners can also read our Scranton and Hershey pages or the statewide Pennsylvania page.
