Utah is one of the few states where a single RV trip can link five national parks. The Mighty 5 are Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and Arches, which alone holds more than 2,000 natural arches. At Zion National Park, a free shuttle runs through the main canyon and Springdale, and the Riverside Walk leads to the mouth of the Narrows. The state also runs 46 parks through Utah State Parks, from Dead Horse Point above the Colorado River to Bear Lake on the Idaho line and Jordanelle in the Wasatch Mountains. Add the ski towns above Salt Lake City and the long desert highways in between, and renters have reasons to visit in every season.
Placing an RV on consignment lets an owner anywhere from Bear Lake to St. George earn from it without handling rentals. A Fleet Manager lists it, answers guests, books trips, cleans between renters, manages check-ins and returns, coordinates maintenance and keeps every renter updated. Along the Wasatch Front, that Fleet Manager is SLC RV Rentals, based in South Jordan. Demand in Utah reaches across the seasons: the Mighty 5 national parks, Zion's canyon, Bear Lake and Jordanelle in summer, and ski towns above Salt Lake City in winter. Many visitors fly into Salt Lake City and spend a week or two working south through canyon country. Renters book family vacations, national park loops, reservoir weekends and ski trips. Expect income potential, professional rental support, ongoing cleaning and inspections, less time managing renters, and the RV ready whenever you want it back. That beats paying a storage lot to hold an RV that rarely leaves it.
Yes. An RV based in Utah can be rented out legally once it is titled, registered with the state and properly insured. An approved rental platform or commercial rental policy protects every booking. Along the Wasatch Front, HOA rules and city limits on RV parking are common, so check those along with your storage lot contract, and ask your tax preparer which state and local taxes apply. RV Management USA's staff help owners across the state get set up, and our RV Management 101 page is worth reading before joining.
Earnings for an RV in Utah come down to type, location, season, availability, condition and local demand. Spring, summer and fall trips to Zion, Arches and the other southern parks produce strong months. As a general estimate, RVs in the state typically bring in around $665 to $3,100 per month. Top performers are motorhomes that make the run from Salt Lake City to the parks without a tow vehicle, plus newer units and bunkhouse trailers near the Wasatch Front. Try our RV rental income calculator for an estimate.
Drivable motorhomes, Class C and Class A, bring in the most for owners in Utah. Other units that book well are Class B camper vans, bunkhouse travel trailers and toy haulers. Long distances between parks favor drivable rigs, vans fit smaller park campsites, and toy haulers suit in-state families bound for off-road areas. Owners near the Colorado line can see our Grand Junction page.
Depending on location, Utah RV storage usually costs about $100 to $250+ a month ($3 to $8 per foot per month). Length, RV type and amenities influence the rate, and indoor or covered space costs more than outdoor parking but helps against heavy winter snow and intense high desert sun. Indoor and outdoor options exist along the Wasatch Front from Salt Lake City to Provo and in other towns across the state.
Our territory managers work with professional on-site maintenance teams to make sure your RV is meticulously maintained throughout the year. Your RV will benefit form ongoing attention and basic maintenance like tire checks before and after each rental, roof and slide out checks once a month, ongoing appliance testing, routine oil changes, and more. We want your RV in top shape all the time so that it can continue to perform well and generate revenue. As an RV owner in our program, there are 3 main types of maintenance costs to consider:
1) Routine maintenance: Oil changes, tire rotations, etc. Owners are billed periodically for these expenses at discounted rates, and the deduction can often come directly from the rental profits in a given month.
2) Rental Damages: Any damage to an RV that happens on a rental will be covered fully by the renter's security deposit and/or the commercial insurance coverage. Our managers deal with all claims and repairs at no cost to the RV owner - renters pay the deductible and your personal insurance is not involved.
3) Systemic maintenance: Systemic issues are the responsibility of the RV owner. A/C failure, water pump failure, fridge or hot water tank failure, etc. These are costs that arise from no fault of the renter. Warranty protection plans usually cover these systemic repairs, and our managers work with the warranty company and RV techs to get these fixed. Our managers will work with you to get your RV back in top shape as quickly and professionally as possible.
Utah bookings run strongest from around April to October. Snow, summer heat and local events can all shift demand, and spring and fall are prime for Zion, Arches and Canyonlands. July is especially busy around Pioneer Day on July 24, a state holiday many families build a camping trip around. Winter is slower but brings skiers and travelers heading to warmer St. George.
Along the Wasatch Front, RV Management USA works through a local Fleet Manager, SLC RV Rentals, that maintains, cleans, lists and rents RVs for owners in the area. Visitors who fly into Salt Lake City for the national parks, and skiers in winter, bring local owners bookings in more than one season. For local details, see our Salt Lake City and Provo pages.
